Context is everything! I’ve often found that horror films that push nudity or sex into a film just for the sake of the cheap thrill. Whilst there are many horror films that are filled with gratuitous nudity and wild sex scenes, much of which is completely unnecessary to pushing the films story forward, there are many films that use sex as a lynch pin to a terrible consequence later in the film. As a horror fan starting in the 1960s, I grew up in Brooklyn with three theaters in walking distance (the Loew's Oriental and the Benson on 86th Street were my favorites). Many weekends and many nights were spent watching horror and sci fi movies (my mom would take me to the horror movies, and my dad took me to the sci fi ones). My first true scare was watching Night of the Living Dead (I was way too young for that!). My fondest memories are watching all those wonderfully good (and some frightfully awful) movies on my local NYC channels , hosted by either Zacherley or the Creep, and eating way too much sugar-loaded cereal on Saturday mornings while I watched Scooby Doo, The Monster Squad, and Groovie Ghoulies.
So you can see how I'd turn into a horror fan with a blog. Scary, isn't it?
From the old to the new in horror movies in reviews and views, here and there you will also meet up with these curious characters in those reviews, along with their sundry adventures. Chalk it up to the cheeky writer side of me.

Top 10 Horror Films of 2022 [Horror News Network]
What a long, terrifying trip it’s been. 2022 has officially come to a close; a year that marked my tenth-year writing for Horror News Network and looking back on it, I didn’t really do a tremendous amount of writing for the site this past year. It was a very busy year workwise and with two kids that play multiple sports, things get kind of hectic.
I’m not a “New Year’s Resolution” type of guy but I’ll make one small resolution…okay, actually two: resolution number one is to finally win the Powerball…enough screwing around. Resolution number two will be to write more articles for Horror News Network this year.
Now that that’s settled, one thing I did not slack on this year was watching movies. Some movies I watch with the Fam, but most are done while everyone else is asleep. I painstakingly went through that list of movies that I watched, categorized the horror ones, and came up with the below list of my TEN (or eleven) favorite horror films of 2022. As I always say, keep in mind that these are my favorites and I’m sure that you won’t agree with all of them (or my omissions) and that’s fine – I welcome the discussion and the opportunity to try and convince you otherwise.
The order of the below films is alphabetical, not ranked…but if you absolutely MUST know, I will say at the end which of the 2022 horror films was my absolute favorite.

Suspect was begun, as most things are, as an idea thrown out in conversation. Now, I can’t quite remember the precise seed of the idea, but I do remember that over the course of several drunken (and even sober !) get togethers. My friends, Todd and Merrill, and I kicked around ideas of what we’d like to see in a video shop. The funny thing is that I was never a big video rental customer. The extent of my renting adventures were renting a couple of films (horrible b-films like Shriek of the Mutilated or Mutant Hunt, of course) along with a Vhs machine (!?) from 7-11. I do remember that the few video rental shops that I did step into were a decidedly boring lot. Pretty well the same cookie-cutter design. You know what I mean: metal, grid shelves, carpets that wouldn’t have been out of place in a faux pub, the latest hollywood schnoozefest playing on the tv(s) hanging from the ceiling. BORING.
Both myself and Merrill had ‘completed’ film school and had both written feature scripts but of course raising the dough for such an iffy endeaver is pretty dificult-it was much easier to raise money to open a video store.
And we did.

Amanda Krueger – A Nightmare on Elm Street Wiki [Fandom]
Amanda Krueger (a.k.a Sister Mary Helena as her name in Christ) (1907 - 1968), was a nun who worked at the Hathaway House (frequently confused with Westin Hills Psychiatric Hospital which wasn't built until years later). She was also the mother of Freddy Krueger. Amanda appeared in Dream Warriors and The Dream Child. Amanda appeared as a spirit who was locked inside the infamous tower of the Hathaway House, and was also one of the few A Nightmare on Elm Street characters that could both defeat and control Freddy.
