15. Horror Album and Heavy Metal Artwork
And finally, we have to give some love to heavy metal artwork.
For decades, metal bands have embraced demons, skeletons, monsters, apocalyptic landscapes, blood-soaked imagery, haunted castles, occult symbolism, and other deliciously dark visuals.
Some album covers are essentially miniature horror movies.
And unlike movie posters, you can listen to the soundtrack while staring at the artwork.
It's a pretty great combination.
From traditional heavy metal to death metal, black metal, doom metal, and beyond, the genre has produced an enormous amount of artwork that deserves recognition from horror fans.
Put one of those albums on, turn off the lights, and suddenly your living room looks suspiciously like the basement of a haunted castle.
