Final Thoughts
The great thing about horror art is that there's no single definition of what makes something frightening.
A grotesque monster might terrify one person.
A lonely landscape might terrify another.
A painting of a smiling doll might send somebody running for the nearest light switch.
And somebody else might look at the exact same painting and say, "That's going above the fireplace."
That's what makes horror art so fascinating.
From centuries-old paintings to movie posters, comic-book covers, album artwork, and modern digital creations, artists have continually found new ways to make us stare at something horrifying—and then stare at it again because, apparently, we enjoy suffering.
And that's perfectly okay.
After all, we're horror fans.
