You're Not Just Watching a Game
The really interesting thing about following an indie developer is that you're also watching a creator's process.
You start seeing how decisions are made.
You see experimentation.
You see ideas being discarded.
You see things being changed.
You see features gradually becoming more sophisticated.
And eventually, you begin to recognize the game taking shape.
That's a very different relationship from simply buying a game when it launches.
When the finished game finally arrives, you'll potentially remember seeing some of its pieces when they were nothing more than rough experiments.
That makes the final product feel different.
You've watched it grow.
