2. Tusk (2014)
There are bad ideas.
There are weird ideas.
And then there is turning Justin Long into a human walrus.
Kevin Smith's Tusk is based around a concept so strange that the movie itself almost feels like an elaborate prank.
A podcaster travels to Canada to interview an eccentric old man. The man tells him a bizarre story involving a walrus.
Things escalate.
And then they escalate way, way further.
Eventually, our unfortunate protagonist finds himself subjected to an increasingly horrifying transformation.
The movie manages to combine body horror, dark comedy, absurdity, and genuine tragedy into one extremely strange package.
The funniest part may be trying to explain the movie to someone who hasn't seen it.
“What's Tusk about?”
“Well... there's this guy... and he becomes a walrus.”
“Why?”
“It's complicated.”
And that's probably the safest answer.
