5. Slither (2006)
Slither feels like the kind of movie that would happen if somebody combined an alien invasion, body horror, zombie movie, gross-out comedy and 1980s creature feature and then told everyone involved to turn everything up to eleven.
Directed by James Gunn, the movie stars Michael Rooker as a man infected by an extraterrestrial parasite.
And things get progressively worse.
Much worse.
There are exploding bodies, bizarre creatures, grotesque transformations and enough squirm-inducing imagery to make your skin crawl.
But beneath all the goo and gore is a genuinely funny horror-comedy.
Slither feels like it should be too ridiculous to work.
Somehow, it does.
