7. Frankenhooker (1990)
The title alone should tell you that we're dealing with a movie that has absolutely no interest in behaving normally.
A man loses his fiancée in a horrific lawnmower accident.
Naturally, he decides to rebuild her.
But because this is a Frank Henenlotter movie, rebuilding her involves collecting body parts from sex workers.
And then things get even stranger.
Frankenhooker takes the classic Frankenstein story and drags it through a filthy New York grindhouse.
It's outrageous, grotesque, darkly funny and completely unapologetic.
The movie doesn't ask whether something is tasteful.
It asks whether something is entertainingly insane.
And in that department, Frankenhooker succeeds spectacularly.
