9. Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
At some point, somebody looked at the two most terrifying things known to humanity:
clowns and aliens.
And they thought:
“We should combine those.”
Thus came Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
The premise is wonderfully simple.
Alien creatures that look like circus clowns arrive on Earth and begin terrorizing a small town.
Their weapons and methods of killing are appropriately clown-themed.
They use cotton candy.
They have bizarre clown guns.
They create ridiculous creatures.
And they turn humans into... well, let's just say snacks.
The movie is silly, colorful and completely committed to its concept.
It shouldn't work.
Yet somehow, it became a beloved cult classic.
And honestly, if an alien invasion ever happens, I'd rather deal with the normal aliens.
At least they probably won't have a giant inflatable hammer.
