Cannibal Holocaust is probably the easiest movie on this list to imagine being nearly impossible to remake faithfully.
Ruggero Deodato's infamous film deliberately blurred the line between fiction and documentary. Its faux-documentary presentation, extreme violence and notorious production history created a movie that became famous for making audiences question whether what they were watching was real.
That was part of the entire experience.
A modern remake would have an enormous problem: audiences know the trick now.
We live in an age where viewers can instantly look up production details, behind-the-scenes footage and cast interviews. The original's ability to make viewers genuinely wonder what they were witnessing would be much harder to reproduce.
