Greetings Horror Fans,
For those of us familiar with AMC's Thrills & Chills events these past 5 years, AMC has done a special collaboration for their upcoming October Thrills & Chills lineup which is titled "Welcome to Horrorwood."
This October, AMC has teamed up with two horror industry icons, Bloody Disgusting and the horror metal band Ice Nine Kills! Together they are bringing back some very memorable horror films back to the big screen for "Welcome to Horrorwood" as part of their monthlong Thrills & Chills series for October. Unfortunately, and I always despise being the bearer of bad news (most times), this special Thrills & Chills series will only be available at approximately 300 AMC locations across the U.S.
Having drawn inspiration from the last two albums from Ice Nine Kills, Welcome to Horrowood will feature five films that have had an impact in the horror genre. Ice Nine Kills' frontman Spencer Charnas, will be providing a special introduction before each film, which will be followed by the band's music video that was inspired by the featured film.
"It's a bloody honor to present this selection of modern horror classics with the mighty AMC Theaters and our friends at Bloody Disgusting. Metal music and marquee movie mayhem. What more could we ask for this October?" said Charnas. He's absolutely correct, some of my personal introductions to metal music came from watching horror films.
Who doesn't remember Dokken's "Dream Warriors" from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Slayer's "Angel of Death" from Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Filter's "Hey Man Nice Shot" from Demon Knight, Alice Cooper's "He's Back" from Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives or G Tom Mac's "Cry Little Sister" from The Lost Boys. Okay that last song is not metal but you guys get the idea, metal and horror form a perfect symbiotic relationship that engraves iconic moments in horror films into our internal horror psyche's that last a lifetime.
AMC's "Welcome to Horrorwood" will invade theaters on Friday and Tuesday nights in October, with all screenings beginning at 8 p.m. local time. The lineup includes the following five iconic horror films:
- October 2 & October 6: Hostel (2005)
- October 9 & October 13: Friday the 13th (1980)
- October 16 & October 20: American Psycho (2000)
- October 23 & October 27: Pet Sematary (1989)
- October 30 & October 31: The Crow (1994)
This October is turning out to be one to die for, in a good way of course. So please remember that not all AMC theaters across the U.S. will be playing the "Welcome to Horrorwood" series, so it's important to check their website using the following link to find your closest theater and purchase your seats now before they sell out, because they WILL sell out and you'll be left outside in the vast darkness of life. https://www.amctheatres.com/events/welcome-to-horrorwood?rel=welcome-to-horrorwood_event_amc_promo
Are you looking forward to attending one of these five movies? Let us know in the comments below which movie/s have peeked you're interest in attending. Happy Halloween!
