Because apparently regular Bigfoot wasn't terrifying enough, so Japan had to make its own.

There are few things more exciting for horror fans than discovering that someone has decided to take a completely bonkers monster idea and actually make a movie out of it.

And that's exactly what has happened with Shockmania.

The horror-focused project from The Arty Dans has officially completed its first full-length feature film, Hibagon: Japanese Bigfoot, a comedy horror thriller produced in conjunction with Tokyo Bay Films and Culture Shock Japan.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Japanese Bigfoot.

Because apparently the woods weren't already dangerous enough.

Hey Gary, thanks for posting this! This was a lot of fun to read. I am blown away by how much effort and information you have here - it brought a smile to mine and the production crews face!

Trailer hits October 22, lots of teasers and short videos to follow and then the main feature in 2027! There will be a watch party on the SHOCKMANIA YouTube channel for its release, so please make sure you keep an eye out on it.

If you need any more information about the production, please reach out again.

This movie definitely has my attention. If there is a culture other than Americans that truly honor the horror genre and show it in their films, it's the Japanese.
