#2 The Basement Is Always Worse Than Expected
Nobody has ever gone into a horror-movie basement and said:
“Wow. This is surprisingly pleasant.”
Basements in horror movies contain:
- Dead bodies
- Ancient books
- Demonic symbols
- Chains
- Weird noises
- Old photographs
- Unexplained stains
- Secret rooms
- Something that definitely should not be moving
And yet characters continue to go downstairs.
The basement could contain a fully functioning arcade, a swimming pool and free pizza and we'd still know something terrible is hiding behind the water heater.
