This one deserves far more attention.
You discover an abandoned house that hasn't been occupied since 1893.
The windows are boarded up.
The roof is collapsing.
There are vines growing through the walls.
There is a mysterious symbol painted above the doorway.

The electricity works perfectly.
The refrigerator is humming.
The hallway lights flicker dramatically.
The basement has power.
Somehow, the haunted mansion's electrical bill is apparently on autopay.
