Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
Halloween III: Season of the Witch is the wonderfully weird black sheep of the Halloween franchise. Forget Michael Myers—this time, the threat comes from Silver Shamrock and a sinister plan involving Halloween masks that nobody should be wearing when the commercial comes on TV.
Tom Atkins brings plenty of personality to the role of Dr. Dan Challis, while director Tommy Lee Wallace creates an eerie atmosphere filled with ancient rituals, creepy robots, corporate evil, and one of the most memorable commercial jingles in horror history. The practical effects are particularly nasty, and the movie has a bizarre charm that becomes more enjoyable with every viewing.
Verdict: Strange, atmospheric, imaginative, and unapologetically different, Halloween III has gone from franchise misfit to beloved cult classic—and honestly, those Silver Shamrock masks are still a terrible idea. ★★★★☆
