Horror has never been particularly good at letting dead villains stay dead.

Freddy comes back. Jason comes back. Michael comes back. Pinhead has probably returned from places that would make the average GPS burst into flames.

But there are plenty of horror villains who appeared once—or at least never got the proper sequel treatment—and then disappeared into the horror movie graveyard.

That is a crime.

Some of these killers had unforgettable designs. Others had bizarre supernatural abilities. A few were barely explained at all, which, frankly, is exactly what makes them interesting.

So let's fix Hollywood's mistake.

There are certain pieces of movie trivia that sound completely fake.

Henry Cavill was in a Hellraiser movie.

Not a new Hellraiser movie. Not a proposed reboot. Not some fan film where somebody digitally pasted Superman into the Leviathan logo.

We're talking about 2005's Hellraiser: Hellworld—the eighth movie in the Hellraiser franchise, a direct-to-DVD horror sequel featuring Doug Bradley as Pinhead, Lance Henriksen as the mysterious Host, and a very young Henry Cavill as a character named Mike.

Yes.

Superman spent some time hanging out with Pinhead.

And somehow, this is real.

Released in 2016 by Behaviour Interactive, Dead by Daylight has somehow turned the simple concept of “one psychopath chases four terrified people around a map” into one of the most enduring horror games ever created.

In 2026, the game celebrated its 10th anniversary, which is an absolutely ridiculous achievement for any multiplayer game—and especially for a horror game.

The Fog has been around for a decade.

Cosmic Horror, Ancient Gods, Forbidden Knowledge, and Other Terrible Reasons to Never Leave the House

There are plenty of horror games that contain monsters.

There are plenty that contain cults.

There are even plenty that contain enormous tentacles emerging from somewhere they absolutely should not be emerging from.

But Lovecraftian horror is different.

The fundamental idea behind H.P. Lovecraft's cosmic horror isn't simply that something scary wants to eat you. It's that the universe is vastly older, stranger, and more terrifying than humanity can comprehend—and the things hiding beyond our understanding probably don't even consider us important enough to eat.

We're ants.

Cosmic ants.
