What is the Scariest Saw Movie Puzzle Box HorrorWhat is the Scariest Saw Movie [Puzzle Box Horror]

The Jigsaw killer is almost always entertaining..some believe even based on a real killer. The facts remains true that there are traps, story lines and characters which are scarier than others throughout the various movies. Thus, there is naturally a ‘scariest Saw movie’ and a ‘least scariest Saw movie’ in the franchise. Determining the fear felt in a Saw movie boils down to a few important factors including:

Could one imagine being in the victim’s shoes?

Are the traps horrifying enough?

Do many victims meet their certain demise?

Is there enough pressure on the victims to be felt by the audience?

Are other victims dangerous to the protagonist(s)?

Is there any chance of survival?

Is the environment also dangerous?

Is the music and ambiance in the Saw movie scary enough?

These factors all make a difference in how scary a Saw movie is, as well as many other factors.

Celluloid Wars The Hidden Costs of Low Budget Filmmaking SchlockmaniaCelluloid Wars – The Hidden Costs of Low Budget Filmmaking [Schlockmania]

It's no surprise that there is an interesting behind-the-scenes story for Battle Beyond The Stars. This film was the biggest gamble that Roger Corman took during his New World Pictures era, costing a whopping four million dollars at a time when he usually spent less than a million on each film. It could have tanked his successful indie production/distribution company but he came out on top with a hit that gave the majors a run for the box office money.

Diving Into Pulp The PulpDiving Into Pulp [The Pulp]

There’s a very Doc Savage-like character who’s been on the best-seller lists for over 20 years: Dirk Pitt, the hero of 16 novels written by Clive Cussler. Pitt works for the National Underwater & Marine Agency (NUMA), a fictional government agency devoted to ocean research. Pitt is more adventurer than academic, and stays busy rescuing damsels and preventing disasters.

Journey Into Fear 1975 Was this remake of Eric Amblers classic thriller novel a recipe for disaster The Sound of Vincent PriceJourney Into Fear (1975) – Was this remake of Eric Ambler’s classic thriller novel a recipe for disaster [The Sound of Vincent Price]

The 1975 political thriller Journey into Fear was an all-star contemporary adaptation of Eric Ambler’s seminal 1940 novel of the same name. A flop at the box office, it had a scant theatrical release on 8 August 1975 and was aired on HBO on 9 January 1976. It then virtually disappeared for many years (appearing briefly on VHS) until a recent Blu-ray release.

The Pyx by John Buell 1959 Shes Like Heroin to Me Too Much Horror FictionThe Pyx by John Buell (1959) – She's Like Heroin to Me [Too Much Horror Fiction]

With the finely-detailed image of a nude willowy blonde, tresses flowing, nipples bared, stomach taut, slim legs, and arched feet in full Playboy-model effect, the cover art for The Pyx promises a helluva lot! Especially for the Sixties when it was originally published by Popular Library (no specific pub date given, nor is artist identified). This little guy was on my want-list for a few years till I lucked upon it for only a few bucks on eBay. Sure, it practically fell apart as soon as I opened it, cover popping off spine, oh well, who's complaining? Should I be surprised that there is no naked woman in the book, nor creatures with disparately colored eyes? Do I demand my money back when reading this novella-length paperback that is basically a crime story about a dead prostitute, her madame, gay friend, criminal consorts, and the dogged detective on the trail of her death? No, I do not.

Spirit Halloween 2023 Zombos ClosetSpirit Halloween 2023 [Zombos’ Closet]

I must say Spirit Halloween seemed a bit less spirited this year in dressing up the store. They usually go all out to create a creepy vibe to enhance your shopping experience, but the store I visited was lackluster. Still, an incredible amount of collectible coolness to adorn your man or girl or whatever you are (thanks Zacherley!) cave, boudoir, or hell, even the whole house. Here are some highlights, but they have a lot more to offer, if you dare. And, just for the record, I would have walked off with the Martian and Annabelle doll but my wife was with me. It gets tougher and tougher hiding stuff as you get older, you know. Nuff said on that. But I did manage to grab the Frankenstein and Black Cat masks. They are awesome.

Midnight Syndicate Invokes the Madness of 19th Century France With New Studio Album The Brimstone Club Rue MorgueMidnight Syndicate Invokes the Madness of 19th Century France With New Studio Album “The Brimstone Club” [Rue Morgue]

As the world’s prime purveyors of horror and fantasy-inspired music, the legendary Midnight Syndicate long ago cornered the market on the sounds of the Samhain season. Just as Bing Crosby owns Christmas, composers Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka have put their indelible stamp on Halloween. With their music featured in hundreds of haunted attractions internationally, Midnight Syndicate makes much more than spooky minor-key music punctuated with sound effects. In their own words, Douglas and Goszka create “soundtracks to imaginary films,” with the theater existing wholly within the listener’s imagination.
